India, Sri Lanka & Singapore Voyager

18 Nights

Celebrity Millennium

This is a rare and unique opportunity to cruise between India and Singapore via Sri Lanka. Explore the history and colonial architecture of India, discover the temples and scenery of Sri Lanka and relax on the beaches of Kerala and Goa

Mumbai is built on what was once an archipelago of seven islands. Between 1661 and 1666 the islands were placed in the possession of the English Empire. Over the years of British rule the islands were merged via landfill to become the area known today as Mumbai. India gained independence from Great Britain in 1947; and in 1995 Bombay was returned to its original name of Mumbai named after Goddess Mumba Devi.

One of the most popular places to visit is the Gateway of India which was built during the colonial era to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. Once representing the grandeur of British Empire, it was also the place from where the last troop of British regiment marched at the time of independence. Another place to visit is Marine Drive - a C-shaped 3 km stretch of road lined with palm trees overlooking the Arabian Sea. At night when the streetlights come on it resembles a necklace and is often referred to the Queen’s Necklace. This is one of the best places for a walk with refreshing breezes and numerous stalls and restaurants. Perhaps visit the Rajabai Clock Tower which is an 85-metre-tall tower resembling London’s Big Ben, and Bombay High Court which is one of the oldest High Courts in India, and it’s a UNESCO-recognised site.

Cochin (Itinerary A) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the prosperous state of Kerala, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala. Cochin is flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. Its proximity to the equator, the sea and the mountains provide a range of sightseeing options in an equatorial climate. Perhaps cruise the Alappuzha backwaters, visit fort Kochi, relax on Cherai Beach and explore marine drive.

Colombo, Sri Lanka is often described as the “Tear drop of India” which offers a world of wonders, from ancient ruins to welcoming people and incredible wildlife.  There are eight UNESCO World Heritage sites to explore including the Temple of the Sacred tooth in Kandy and, Sigiriya, the most visited historical site in Sri Lanka and considered by many to be the eighth wonder of the World. Other highlights include visiting the tea plantations or taking a tour of one of the many national parks, where you’ll encounter leopards, buffaloes, birds and elephants.

The island nation of Singapore makes a holiday destination in its own right - let alone the perfect prelude or postlude to this wonderful Indian and Sri Lankan voyage. Singapore is often referred to as the “Island with a thousand shopping malls”. Visit the 2.2km stretch of Orchard Road - the Oxford Street of Singapore, Chinatown, Little India and the vast Bugis Street Market. Enjoy a tour of Chinatown, have afternoon tea in the famous Raffles Hotel or take a cable car ride to Sentosa Island for some panoramic views. Gardens by the Bay is a nature park with futuristic looking tree sculptures which reach heights of up to 16 storeys. Here you will find the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest waterfront conservatories and the Supertree Grove with 18 manmade trees. The best time to visit Gardens by the Bay is in the late afternoon, around 4-5pm. Start with the cooled conservatories and then go up to the OCBC Skyway in the evening when the temperature is cooler. Definitely check out the nightly show (free admission), that showcases the magical lights of the super trees to music.
