style on this passage between Rio de Janeiro and Miami. Delve into the natural
wonders and eco systems of the Amazon River and the mighty Amazon rainforest. A

Rio De Janeiro will set you up for your bucket list cruise from this bucket
list destination. Top up your tan ready for the Oceania brand of special boutique luxury on
board ship where the finest cuisine at sea prevails in between wonderous destination
hopping. Perhaps take a trip to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain for magnificent views
by cable car – a la James Bond. Then head for the Christ the Redeemer statue
atop the higher Corcovado Mountain.
Rio de Janeiro
(River of January) is the second largest city in Brazil with a population of
6.3 million. Rio is the most visited city in the southern hemisphere and is
known for its natural settings, carnival celebrations, samba and beaches such
as Copacabana and Ipanema. Some of the most famous landmarks include the
giant statue of Christ the Redeemer (one of the modern seven wonders of the world) at 130 feet tall
and built between 1922 to 1931 atop Corcovado Mountain, rising
700 metres above sea level. Also Sugarloaf Mountain, which is
396 metres high, above the harbour with its cable car famously featured
in the James Bond Movie “Moonraker”.
Brazil has a population
of 192 million people and is the fifth largest country in the world. Its Atlantic
coastline is 4,655 miles long with numerous ports of call. 60% of the Amazon
Rainforest is within the borders of Brazil. This wonderful Amazonia passage
stops at various points along the Amazon River reaching as far as Manaus for an
overnight port of call. Manaus is approximately 900 miles upriver from the
coast at a major fork of the Amazon where the Rio Solimoes meets the Rio Negro
to form the main Amazon River. Enjoy the mesmerizing spectacle of the meeting of
the waters where the cooler sandy-coloured water of the Amazon
River and the warmer and clearer black water of the Rio Negro collide. You
would expect two rivers that meet to blend into one another but that is not the
case here as the two types of water flow distinctly side by side for a further
6km beyond Manaus.
After
your in depth exploration of the Amazon – your passage to Miami continues with a couple
of wonderful Caribbean Island-hopping destinations giving you a two for one cruise
holiday experience.

petits fours, tender scones with clotted cream and, of course, a wide
assortment of fine teas appear, all prepared with world-class attention to
detail. The backdrop of the turquoise sea and the sunlight streaming through
walls of glass combined with the white-gloved servers that seem to glide
through the space and the lovely enigma of a string quartet playing the Beatles
only enhance the moment. You’ll quickly realize that this is how afternoon tea
