Sitka

Sitka, located on Baranof Island in Alaska’s Inside Passage, lies at the heart of the vast Tongass National Forest — the largest temperate rainforest in the world. This spectacular wilderness covers most of Southeast Alaska and offers the chance to see eagles, bears, spawning salmon, and sweeping vistas that define the untamed beauty of wild Alaska.

The town itself has a distinctive character, shaped by both Tlingit culture and Russian heritage. Surrounded by island-studded waters, jagged mountain peaks, and the presence of a towering volcano, Sitka combines dramatic scenery with a fascinating cultural story that makes it one of Alaska’s most unique ports.

Juneau

Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is perched on a hillside where the historic downtown buildings give the city a charming frontier feel. Towering 4,000-foot mountains create a dramatic backdrop, making the setting truly unforgettable.

Beyond the city lies the vast Juneau Icefield, from which more than 30 glaciers flow — the most famous being the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. Rich in history, Juneau was shaped by the gold rush era and remains deeply connected to Tlingit culture, blending frontier heritage with Native traditions.

Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier

Your journey through the scenic Endicott Arm Fjord ends with a front-row view of Dawes Glacier. Standing over 600 feet tall and a half-mile wide, this active icecap is famous for its calving displays, sending massive icebergs drifting into the surrounding waters.

Keep your camera ready—the shifting ice and echoing cracks make every visit unique, offering a rare chance to witness nature’s power up close.

Icy Straight Point

Icy Straight Point is a privately owned island operated by the native Tlingit Nation. Located near the village of Hoonah, it offers breathtaking waterfront restaurants, scenic walking trails, a free museum, a live native show, and plenty of shopping. For those looking to relax, Icy Straight Point even has a charming beach to enjoy.

Ketchikan

Ketchikan, known as the Salmon Capital of the World, is a quaint village just three miles long and three blocks wide, wedged between the water and the forested slopes of Deer Mountain. Much of the native village is propped up on wooden pilings, and the Totem Heritage Center houses the world’s largest collection of authentic totem poles.

Beyond the town, you can explore the surrounding wilderness, where there’s an excellent chance of spotting bald eagles soaring effortlessly over the inlets in search of salmon — a sight that perfectly captures the spirit of Alaska’s rugged beauty.

Victoria (British Columbia)

Victoria (British Columbia) was once a British colonial post and is full of historic sites, public parks and groomed gardens. Here, the locals appear more British than the British. The beautiful town centre features the impressive government buildings, the Fairmount Hotel and the harbour area where pleasure boats navigate past seaplanes as they take-off and land.

Disembark the ship after breakfast and make your own way to the nearby train station to board the train ready for a 1600 departure - overnight on board the train.
